Pop

Pop has lead the music scene for decades. Since the 80s, pop has taken precedence over many other genres, due to its popularity. Artitsts like Adele, Pink, Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson and Miley Cyrus have changed the face of pop for females, but artists like John Mayer, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, and Adam Levine have changed the face of pop for men. It would be impossible to go through and name all of the albums worth your time and money, like all 3 of Adeles albums, Miley's latest Younger Now, John Mayer's Continuum and The Search for Everything, and Maroon 5's famous Songs About Jane, but those are some, just to name a few. But we musn't forget those who had pop in the palm of their hands during their peaks, like Britney Spears, Elton John, The Spice Girls, and of course, none other than Prince and David Bowie.

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson, The King of Pop, stole our hearts as a young boy a part of Jackson 5 and soared from there on. From Thriller, and Bad, to Off the Wall, Michael Jackson could not be stopped. Yes, there is a lot of controversy that surrounds him, but we cannot deny the fact that he changed pop music for all musicians. Billie Jean, Thriller, Bad, Human Nature, P.Y.T, Beat It, were all songs that changed the way we thought about music. Not only did Michael Jackson kill it with these songs, he sold hits that were controversial and made public statements, such as Black or White and They Don't Care About Us. No one can take away the title that has been given to MJ and there is no denying his music will never fade.

Lady Gaga

At the start of her career, I think we can all agree that we thought Lady Gaga was a little whacked out. But it is clear that she was just trying to make a statement against the music industry that she won't be told how to dress or what to do and she won't change for anyone. We can see this in her newest album, Joanne. With varying emotions seeping through the seams of each song, Joanne is a dynamic and different album than what were used to seeing in Gaga. Upbeat songs like A-YO and John Wayne make you want to dance and party, while you're forced to hold back your tears listening to Joanne, a song about her aunt, who the album is named after, and Grigio Girls, a song about her late friend Sonja. You take an ecclectic journey with Gaga through this new album and hear her find herself through these songs.
