Soul and R&B

Soul music has been around for as long as music has been good. Artists like Billie Holliday, Etta James, and Nat King Cole have paved the way for newer and older artists through blues and soul. Although soul and R&B has evolved in a way that differs from these artists, the basiss for the genre is still there. Newer artists, such as Childish Gambino or SZA can be associated different genres such as rap or hiphop, but these genres derive from Soul and R&B

Alabama Shakes

Alabama Shakes

Alabama Shakes is lead by Brittany Howard, with her gritty, raspy voice and her insane guitar playing skills. Her voice is different from any, her vocals range is so strong and wide, with her high pitched rips. Although their last album was released in 2015, it still stands to be one of the best i've heard. The soulful and heartbreaking tones are brought out through each song and are accompanied by such different sounds of guitars and drums. Sound & Color ranges from sad, ecclectic, and upbeat songs that will be stuck in your head for days.

Solange
