Rock
Rock is a genre that has withstood the tribulations of time. Starting in the 40s and giving us legends like Elvis Presley, who we can't very well praise because he stole music from Big Mama Thorton and made millions where she made hundreds. Led Zepplin, ACDC, Heart, Pat Benatar, Janis Joplin, Kings of Leon, and Weezer are all incredible bands that have made an impact on the way we hear Rock music.
Fleetwood Mac
Fleetwood Mac has been around since the 60s, adding and losing members
along the way. In the late half of the 1960s, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and
Peter Green started what has become one of the most influential bands of all time.
After losing Peter Green and adding Stevie Nicks, as the lead singer, and Linsay Buckingham,
as guitarist, in 1975, the band took off. Their album Rumors, has some of their best songs to date,
with songs like Dreams, The Chain, and Gold Dust Woman. This is not to say that there are not gems
hidden within their other albums including on their self-titled album, Rhiannon and Landslide.
Tango in the Night had Caroline and Big Love, sung by Lindsay Buckingham and Little Lies.
The album Tusk also had some of their other great songs like Storms and Beautiful Child. I should
stop here though because I might go on forever gushing over such an incredible band.
The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones started in 1962 with, who is now one of the most well known lead vocals, Mick Jagger, Bill Wyman, and Keith Richards. There were other members but they have since left the band and have been replaced. The Stones, during their golden age of the late 60s early 70s were named the world's greatest rock and roll band. Let It Bleed was one of their biggest successes. It had some of their best songs including Gimme Shelter and You Can't Always Get What You Want. They added soul and a bit of funk to each of their songs, making a different sound than any other. The Stones had a gritty, scruffy sound that couldn't be topped if someone tried, which they wouldn't.
