DOWNSIZING

Apartments in new york are very tiny and expensive. Be ready to downsize and adapt to tiny but comfortable spaces. Be prepared to leave some of your clothes in your hometown because their closets will never fit everything. You will learn that if you have not used any of those items in the past month you don’t actually need it. Once you’ve chosen what to keep, sent out what you don’t, and stored what you don’t need immediately, it’s important that you take what’s left and make the most of the small space you have.

TAP WATER

Did you know that NYC tap water is also coined “champagne of tap waters”? This because New York City has one of the best quality tap water in America. This is to say that you don’t need to spend money in bottled water and waste plastic for your home because you don’t need it. It is heavy to carry and takes up so much precious space.

GROCERY DELIVERY

Many of NYC buildings have lifts. However, if you decide to live in post-war building, such as the majority of east village buildings, you won’t have one. There are many grocery shops that deliver your groceries directly to your door. You don’t even have to leave your home to order it, you just need to make you order online. Additionally, if you have Amazon Prime subscription you don’t even have to pay the delivery fee.

Lifestyle

DRESS IN LAYERS

It doesn't matter if it is summer or winter, in NYC whenever you step into a building the temperature will always be the opposite of the one outside. During summer you will freeze for the Polo Nord temperature to which the A/C is set, and in winter you will feel like you are in the tropics. The trick is to dress in layers so that you can take your layers on or off however you prefer.

KEEP UP WITH SALES

In NYC you can always find sales. There are different websites that will help you find the hottest sales at the perfect time. You just need to turn your notifications on and you will always be updated.

DON'T GET FANCY

Nobody cares about what you are wearing or what you look like in NYC. So don’t waste too much time dressing up or worrying about what people think about you. Just get out of your apartment and enjoy the city!
