Plot

"The Imitation Game" narrates the story of the mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing. He tried to decipher, with the cryptography team at Bletchley Park, the Enigma Machine used by the Nazis to send coded messages during the Second World War. However Turing had an unsociable personality which made it difficult for the others to work with him; as a matter of fact, he worked alone on a machine which could decipher Enigma. After having received the funds to build the machine, Turing hires a woman called Joan Clarke to work in the department that intercept the messages. Because of a conversation Turing overheard from a female employer, he realized that his machine could decode words that can be found in specific messages. As a result, he found the way to make it work and decipher the Germans messages; nevertheless, they couldn't let their enemy know. After the war ended, Turing and the others collegues are told to erase their work and to never meet again.
