Elton John wrote the songs for The Lion King together with Tim Rice, with an incredible outcome: he mixed his typical melodic compositive style with african musical motifs. Part of the emotive impact of his songs is provided indeed by the incredible african choruses, and by the ability of Mr. Elton John to musically match the visual greatness.
Fantasia was the third feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series when it came out, and it represented a unique breakthrough. It was something never done before: eight animated mini-pictures set to pieces of classical music, no dialogues, no plot, just the beauty of images and music. Music was conducted by Leopold Stokowski, seven of the pieces are performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra.
