Jakob Kudsk Steensen, The Song Trapper

For his first solo exhibition at an institution, the Danish artist has created The Song Trapper, an immersive multisensory video installation designed specifically for our gallery in Hong Kong and produced with the support of the gallery. A multidisciplinary artist, Jakob Kudsk Steensen explores themes of ecology and psychology through the prism of technology. For the past ten years, he has been experimenting with tools such as video game engines, generative systems, and photogrammetry, which he combines with fieldwork to create virtual worlds. Focusing on little-known, rare, or endangered ecosystems—desert lakes, underwater volcanoes, wetlands, glaciers—his works explore a plurality of narratives, emotions, and philosophies to express the impact of the world's transformations.
