Kobe Bean Bryant was born on August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia.

When Bryant was six, he moved to Rieti in Italy where his father played professional basketball.

1999: Bryant meets his future wife, Vanessa Laine.

They married on April 18, 2001 and had four daughters.

In 2018, Kobe Bryant made history by becoming the first professional athlete to win an Academy Award with his production, "Dear Basketball," which took home Best Animated Short Film.

When Bryant was 13, he and his family moved back to Philadelphia, where he enrolled in eighth grade at Bala Cynwyd Middle School.

The Bryant family founded The Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation (KVBFF) in 2007 to help improve the lives of those in need and encourage young people to stay active with sports.

January 26, 2020: Kobe Bryant (41) died, along with his daughter Gianna (13), in a helicopter crash in Calabasas. 🙏
