TOUR OF THE DAY
The public art and sculpture museums in the
Vatican City.
They display works from the immense
collection amassed by the Roman Catholic Church and the
Papacy throughout the centuries.
This
includes several of the most renowned Roman
sculptures and most important masterpieces
of Renaissance art in the world.

The history of the museum can be traced to 1471, when Pope Sixtus IV donated a collection
of important ancient bronzes
to the people of Rome and located them on the Capitoline Hill.
The museums' collection has grown to include many ancient Roman statues,
inscriptions, and other artifacts; a collection of medieval and Renaissance art.
A 17th-century palace in Rome, facing the Piazza Barberini in Rione Trevi. Today it houses the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica, the main national collection of older paintings in Rome.
The Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea also known as La Galleria Nazionale is an art gallery in Rome, was founded in 1883 and is dedicated to modern and contemporary art. It is located in the the beautiful Palazzo delle Belle Arti, designed by prominent Italian architect Cesare Bazzani.
