ABOUT US

Sixteen Nadudana Cattle (five bulls and 11 cows) were first imported into Australia, from the USA, in 1995. A group of early breeders interested in promoting the breed and maintaining a mutual body for breeders to maintain contact, formed as The Nadudana Cattle Society of Australia Inc. in July 1995. Nadudana Cattle Queensland formed as a spin off group of owners in Queensland early in 2007. By 2020 it was clear that Nadudana Cattle Queensland had become the de facto national association. Also by this time a small number of Nadudana (two bulls and two cows) had been introduced from Australia, to New Zealand. It was thus decided to relaunch the Association in 2021 as Nadudana Association Australia and New Zealand (NAANZ), with a view to continue to promote the breed throughout Australasia.

Graham Mair (Registrar): Graham has a hobby farm in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia and is a fairly recent convert to Nadudana cattle, having obtained his first six cattle as the basis for his herd, in early 2018. He maintains a small herd, 11 strong in early 2021 and is hoping to popularize the breed among hobby farmers in South Australia. Graham is a scientist with a specialisation in genetics, but applied to fish not cattle. He currently spends much of his year overseas working with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN based in Rome, Italy, and thus manages his herd remotely. Graham took up the role of Registrar in late 2020 and is committed to developing a herd book and a registration system that meets the needs of all Nadudana breeders in Australia and New Zealand and facilitates the expansion of the national herds.
