Things to do

One of the best things to do is to go around Old Town Square. Walk around and take in the scenery and the people. You will not regret it!

Make sure that you buy a 1 day - 3 day metro pass. The metro is so incredibly convenient and will be able to be your pass to the city. You will be able to explore and incredible amount of ground in a short amount of time. All of the best things to do and the best food is spread around the city, so having a metro will absolutely help you in your quest ot conquer this city.

Tips

One of the biggest things that people forget is that the Czech Republic is not on the euro. It has a crazy currency called the Czech Crowns. Everything is in forms of hundreds, so it really throws everyone off when you buy a drink and its 200 Crowns. Exchange money at your local place in your country before you go, you will be playing a lot less money that way!

Keep an open mind in Prague. Everyone that you might run into might give you a hard time because you are an American traveler. Move past that and have a blast- Prague is one of my favorite cities that I travelled to.

Food

I am a huge fan of trying the traditional food in every country, however, most people do not enjoy Czech food whatsoever. It is more of a Thanksgiving dinner. However, if you're into that, give it a go. Some people really do enjoy it. But speaking for the majority, I would have it once, and then move on to other specialites.

One of the most iconic parts of the Prague food is the Trdelnik. This is a kind of chimmney like cake donut that can be filled with Nutella, ice cream, or fruit. Contrary to popular belief, this isn't a Czech tradition. It was started a few years back on Instagram because of it's photographic popularity. Now, it is a must-eat for all the foodies traveling Europe. Don't worry, even though it isn't a traditional Czech tradition, it is still absolutely delicious and you must have at least one. I had 3. You can get them anywhere in Prague where you see a Trdelnik stand.

Apart from eating all this, I had absolutely delicious American, Mexican, and Thai food during my time in Prague. I would use TripAdvisor to your advantage and try anything that they are known for. I would highly recommend the Mexican food. I'm from California and it was absolutely delicious! Maybe because I've been too deprived of Mexican food in Italy. Nevertheless, try it out! One of the most important parts of traveling abroad is trying new things, even if you don't end up liking it in the end!
