The encounter between Patrizio Bertelli,Prada Group's Chief Executive Officer, and
Argentinian yacht designer German Frers,gives life to Luna Rossa sailing team in 1997,
when they decide to participate in the XXX America's Cup.
In January of 2001 Patrizio Bertelli decides to
bring Luna Rossa back on the water and once again challenges the kiwi team.
Of the twelve teams challenging for the trophy, Luna Rossa is the first to set up its base in
Valencia, the city chosen to host the thirty second America's Cup.
In 2012 Luna Rossa Team Principal, Patrizio Bertelli, will be the first Italian in history to
enter the America's Cup Hall of Fame, and will also be the year in which the revolutionary
AC72 is launched.
