Biography

Julia Potts was born on a small homestead in Cody Wyoming in June of 1940. As a young child she was deeply inspired by the natural world. Paintings of beetles, butterflys, bumblebees and the occasional hummingbird consumed the walls of their antique farmhouse. In 1956 Potts joined a "Sculpt for Serenity" program at her local high school in support for the American Red Cross Association and fell in love with the craft. Potts went on to major in Marketing and Business Administration at The University of Wyoming, taking night classes to feed her passion. In 1976 Potts opened up a small studio in Bozeman Montana, launching the national sucess Jules Pottery is today.

Our Mission

The Julia Potts Studio or "Jules Pottery" is a for-profit association that supports the combined efforts of local artists in the Montana, Wyoming, Idaho region. The studio supports smaller artists, creating a community to foster and grow the talents of nature based cermacists, from hand building to wheel spinning! Jules Pottery currently donates 50% of our profits to the Bozeman Institute of Arts Education, providing art supplies and materials to low income schools across the city.
