Small appetizers or snacks served all over Spain. Tapas can include olives, cheese, chorizo, patatas bravas/mixtas and more. It is usually served when you ask for a drink. It is very common in the Spanish culture to "tapear," which is just to go talk while drinking and having some tapas.

A cold tomato-based soup, perfect for summer. Originated in Andalucía and made with tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, garlic and olive oil. There is another very similar plate called Salmorejo, just as good.

A Spanish omelette made with eggs and potatoes, often with onions. A beloved comfort food across the country, which you can usually get as a tapa as well.

Jamón Ibérico

Dry-cured ham made from black Iberian pigs. A delicacy often served thinly sliced as a tapa or starter. It is very common to eat it with slices of bread based with olive oil and tomatoes (This is specially common in Cataluña)

Patatas Mixtas

Fried potatoes with two different possibilities of sauces (or a mix of both). The sauces are usually: salsa brava or ali-oli. Ali-oli is a very common sauce, specially in the islands and the south, made with olive, mayo and garlic.
