Born in 76 AD, Hadrian became Roman Emperor in 117 AD and ruled for over twenty years. He loved Greek culture, architecture, and the arts in general. He wrote poetry, and promoted painting and sculpture across the Roman Empire. He lived in a villa in beautiful villa in Tivoli. The Pantheon was built under his rule, and is one of the greatest artistic achievements of the ancient world, and the frescoes commissioned during his reign reflect a refined taste that shaped Roman art for generations.
