There are so many popular places to go! Taos sits nestled between multiple national forests and national parks, with plenty of hiking, camping, and fishing accesible almost all year round. If one prefers desert hiking, the West Rim trail follows the top of the canyon for several miles.

New Mexico is known for its many thermal springs, so make sure not to miss them while it Taos! Stage Coach Hot Springs is a 25 minute drive from the town, but four wheel drive and good tires are necessary.

If one prefers a climb and a summit, the Wheeler's Peak Hike is always great!It is also the tallest point in New Mexico, and offers outstanding panoramas of the surrounding areas.

One cannot go wrong with a hike in Taos. Be aware of wildlife, such as bobcats, snakes, and bears, as well as wild fires (in the dry months) and blizzards (in the winter).
