Beginning play and the Crib
The Go
- The Go is played by each player, starting with the player with the crib, playing a card, then it goes back and forth each player playing a card until they can't play. Each play puts their caards in their own pile as to make sure no cards are confused, thus the two piles below. This can happen for two reasons, they run out of cards or they have a card that goes over 31.'
- If that happens and a player has no cards that does not put the pile over 31 then they can't play and they pass there turn to the other player.
- This is called
a go or to go.
Each card is added to the total using their numarical value. face cards are all worth ten, aces are one or eleves at the prefrence of the player. The total for the go can not go over thirty-one, once it reaches thirty-one the count goes back to zero.
- Play until all the cards are used. Once all the cards are played the players cut one card from the deck, if it is a jack the player with the crib is awareded one point.
Pegging
- The order of scoring goes
- The hand of the player without the crib
- The hand of the player with the crib
- Then the crib
- This is more complex as knowledge of scoring is necessary. For that visit the scoring section.
- In short each player takes the cards in there hand and counts up the points they have in there hand.
- The player without the crib goes first, whatever the total of points the player takes the back peg and moves it up that number of points on the board.
- Always keep the tag in place incase there is miscounting.
- After both hands are counted the player with the crib counts it and then peggs the points gained. Once this is done the cards are shuffled and the crib moves the the other player. Thenplay begings again at the go.
