Amsterdam is the city with more bicycles than people! It is the most populated city of Holland, with over 800,000 living just in the center. Being a big tourist hotspot, Amsterdam welcomes of 3,5 million visitors each year. It is surrounded by water canals, and has an estimate of 1,500 bridges that connect the city through each island. Although the seat of the government is located in The Hague, Amsterdam has become the capital by popular demand. The original word for this celebrated is Amstelredamme, as it is located around the dam of the Amstel river. Although Amsterdam's originated as a fisher town, it became the core location for the awakening of the Golden Age. It became the most influencial economy in the 17th century, as it became an essential city for trading. Many influential aristocrats were native of this city. The original structure of the buildings was made wood, although with the humid weather and rain, many problems arised due to the easy decay. Nowadays, the majority of the buildings keep the quintissential design for the traditional style, but the foundations have improved to stone and cement. Amsterdam has one of the most distinct flags, with a red background along with a black band, and three symbolic Saint Andrew's crosses, representing the coat of arms.

Amsterdam is very diverse, as it offers many attractions for every kind of person. It has an abundance of squares, but the most distinguished of all is The Dam Square. the Royal Palace of the Queen is a beautiful monumental building that was constructed as Town Hall, but it now serves as one of the palaces for the Royal Family. One of the main highlights are the undoubtedly the canals. Amsterdam is a city full of adventure, with its wonderful views, the entire city becomes an attraction. It is far from the conventional 'concrete jungle', as it is a very green city, with parks such as the remarkable Vondelpaark. Its 8 hectares of nature offers breath-taking views to both locals and tourists, as it has become a hot-spot for all nature lovers, athletes and cyclists. Right next to said park is the famous Van Gogh museum, tribute to the celebrated artist Vincent Van Gogh, along with the Rijksmuseum, giving entry to the emblematic square of Museumplein.
