Qatar

2022 World Cup

• Qatar won the hosting rights by FIFA after winning the bidding against the USA, Australia, South Korea and Japan back in 2010. It will be the first World Cup to be held in the Arab world and the first in a Muslim-majority country.  • Due to the extreme heat in Qatar during summer and safety concerns regarding players and supporters, the 2022 World Cup will also mark the first World Cup not to be held in May, June, or July; the tournament is instead scheduled for late November until mid- December. This is due to the extreme heat in Qatar. The final match of the 2022 World Cup will be held on the 18th December 2022, also known as Qatar National Day.
